Belmont Avenue has a rich history of local entrepreneurship, bartering and discount goods. Belmont’s history is nostalgic for many long-term Brownsville residents. This series of street festivals will encourage residents to “Be On Belmont” and enhance connectivity between Belmont Ave. by, promoting local business and investment  and encouraging a safe pedestrian, resident-consumer, family-friendly “place”. 

“Be On Belmont” Weekend Walks will feature local entrepreneurs, performers, resources and activities for all ages. “Be On Belmont” is free and open to the public.

Eleven women in the arts from the Dominican and the Haitian diaspora crafted visuals works that challenge Dominican and Haitian society norms by breaking through colonialism while embodying the island’s original roots in their featured visual work.
